Research and Development Principal Scientist/Engineer
Being part of Delrin’s R&D team means delivering value by developing innovative solutions to manufacturing and technical problems.  You will work closely with technical and operations personnel to define, lead, and execute programs which deliver process and product improvements.  Using innovative approaches to solve technical problems, you will execute research and development by participating in cross-functional, interdisciplinary, teams to deliver highly specialized solutions at market speed.  At Delrin®, you will work alongside industry leading scientists to discover and develop the next generation of process technology and product improvements which will directly impact business performance and sustainability.  As innovation grows, so can you.
Delrin® is looking for an energetic candidate to join our process research and development team located in Parkersburg, WV.   The ideal candidate will have a strong practical background in chemical engineering and laboratory R&D; with prior experience supporting a chemical manufacturing facility.  The candidate should also possess a self-starter mentality with the drive to solve problems creatively and efficiently. 
A preferred candidate will thrive in an innovative environment and will support the Delrin® business by performing a combination of roles which include:
  • Identifying, developing, and facilitating implementation of process improvements by demonstrating new reaction and separation concepts at the lab to small pilot scale and by using data analysis to optimize existing assets.
  • Conducting chemical engineering research to support a proprietary polymerization process.
  • Working collaboratively with operations to support manufacturing with technical expertise and guidance.
  • Developing into a Delrin® manufacturing technology subject matter expert.
  • Interacting routinely with global operations, technology, and business functions.
As part of the process R&D group, you will participate in a fast-moving collaborative international effort with opportunities for advancement and travel.   Flexibility and a “hands-on” attitude are essential.

BACKGROUND REQUIRED:
Education:   MS/PhD chemical engineer
Experience: 
  • 6+ years process research and development experience in an industrial chemicals or polymerization setting experience with technical expertise in the areas of reactions and separations
  • Experience with analytical techniques including but not limited to titration and chromatography
  • Experimental data collection and analysis know-how
  • Experience with assembling lab-scale chemistry/chemical engineering equipment to develop and demonstrate chemical engineering unit operations
  • Experience using plant data and process modeling approaches to identify and solve chemical manufacturing problems.
